I AM MOVING THIS BLOG!
I know it’s been such a long time since I’ve updated this blog due to personal reasons and I am so sorry for that, but nevertheless I’ve been working on some better things! Like my ‘eyswdeopn’ blog that contains informative and/or inspiring articles, images, political cartoons, quotes, etc… plus an entire section about the environment containing information on things such as renewable energy resources, creative recycling, beneficial natural resources, and home gardening.
NOW to my point, I’m adding a health section to that blog as well, containing basically a lot of the information I have posted on here and eventually so much more then that. So I’ll be moving this blog to that one, just to have one blog of all the information I feel necessary to share with as many people as I can! If you want to continue following my posts from this blog, then follow that one!

Lutein
About: Lutein is a yellow-to-orange phytochemical. It works as an antioxidant in your body to reduce the damage done by free radicals. Lutein is a carotenoid and is related to vitamin A. Other carotenoids include beta carotene, alpha carotene and zeaxanthin.
Function: Lutein is concentrated in the retinas of your eyes, so it’s necessary for good vision. Eating a diet with lots of colorful fruits and vegetables that contain lutein may also decrease your risk of cardiovascular disease. One study in Los Angeles found that people who had higher levels of lutein and other antioxidants had healthier blood vessels. Of course, there are other healthy lifestyle factors that go along with eating a lutein-rich diet, so it’s difficult to know how much (if any) of the effect was due to lutein alone.

I've been a vegetarian for about 5 months, and I know what foods I need to be eating to get protein and other nutrients, but how do I know if I am getting enough? Thanks for your help!
You know, I’m really not sure how you can know if you’re getting enough or not… all I know is that if you eat what you need to be eating frequently, it will get the job done (:

Silk Coffee Creamer
It’s made from soy. It’s a lot better for you than regular coffee creamer considering they usually have artificial flavors and added sugar, on top of the fact that it’s dairy. My favorite kind of Silk coffee cream is the French Vanilla, the Hazelnut is alright.
I read in Shape magazine that 1 cup of coffee every day is actually good for you. Well I mean, you know, depending on what you choose to put in the coffee. It said that a cup a day can actually reduce the risks of having a stroke. I know there were other benefits, but I forgot lol.
Yes! This is one of the best vegetarian website I’ve ever seen!

BENEFITS OF HOME-GROWN FOODS
With today’s economy, many families are reviving the tradition of a home vegetable garden. Not only is the back-to-garden movement saving money on grocery bills, but it’s putting healthier food on the table. Here are a few more benefits from the Nutrition Data Blog:
Fresh vegetables are more nutritious. When they’re harvested just moments before you serve them, you’re getting the absolute maximum nutritional benefit.
You can grow organic a lot cheaper than you can buy it. Organic produce may feel like a luxury you can’t afford. But you can grow your own organic produce using composted kitchen scraps as natural fertilizer.
Eating local saves energy and fossil fuels-and it doesn’t get any more local than your own back yard. This translates into lower food costs and a lower carbon footprint for your household.
Gardening provides free exercise and stress relief. An hour in the garden will get your heart pumping and muscles toned. It also clears the mind and erases the day’s stress.
Kids will eat what they grow. Kids love to garden and are much more willing to eat vegetables that they had a hand in bringing to the table. ( source )
